September 1, 2023, Friday—
Rachel and I went to Mendon Ponds before my work, and then investigated two lunch buffets. Rosie Nepalese and Indian Cuisine in the Trader Joe’s shopping center, which we know is great, was $17 a head at lunch on Fridays. Which is a lot of lunch.
Natural Oasis on Monroe Ave is around $7 a pound but—the guy made us each a plate of lentils and peas from the buffet, with six thin triangles of bread to share, and each either a 4 oz or 6 oz cup of soup.
However, he charged us for six pounds of food (a Chipotle burrito is a pound). So, our lunches here were also $17+ each.
Rachel paid, but called the store back. “I may have overcharged you,” the man said. Rachel went to Aldi while I got ready for work, and swung by to pick up a proffered five dollar bill.
How do we get a simple, tasty lunch in Rochester?

Photos: I liked these companionable sparrows, as seen through the windshield, in the McDonald’s parking lot. Rachel was getting cash for lunch at the 7-11 next door. Also, a little moon cloud over Mendon.
This song was on 88.5 WRUR when I was considering the birbs, so maybe Willie’s essential for the vibe
