This Barnes and Nobles display reminded me to read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. Who doesn’t need to be (or find) a better man?
The part that spoke to me so far was what he learned from his teacher, Maximus:
“The sense he gave of staying on the path rather than being kept on it.” —p. 9
I’m on the path, and I guess I stay on it, but I don’t consistently move on down it.
Also, he’s grateful to the gods for “remedies granted through dreams—when I was coughing blood, for instance, and having fits of dizziness. And the one at Caieta.” Oh, no. What? From Reddit, “There was a widespread belief that the gods could offer aid through revelatory dreams.”
Also, from James Clear:
“It’s not that hard on any given day, but the trick is you can’t skip days. Your workouts can be reasonable and still deliver results—if you don’t skip days. Your writing sessions can be short and the work will still accumulate—if you don’t skip days. As long as you’re working, you’ll get there.”
